Well Examination is the Independent Assessment (“Verification”)
on behalf of a Well Operator that Wells are being Designed
and Maintained in accordance with the appropriate standards.
Well Examination is a requirement of the Design and Construction
Regulations which were introduced by the UK Government in
1996. Since that time NRG has been instrumental in the development
and execution of well examination schemes for many Clients.
Well Examination is also performed for International Operations
for some clients who wish to promote Independent Verification
as part of an integrated QA/QC approach to Operational Safety.
NRG, as Well Examiners, are fully independent of the Client’s
line management and utilise either the NRG Standard Well Examination
Scheme or that of the Client. In either case the Schemes are
standardised and do not require major input of resources or
expenditure from the Client in terms of up-front development
or day-to-day running.
The Schemes cover all types of wells and operations including
drilling, completion and production operations, through to
abandonment. They ensure that there are no overlaps with the
Independent Verification of Offshore Installation Safety Critical
Equipment.
NRG has developed a Well Examination Handbook that explains
the well examination process.
